Cold, sweet and refreshing. Soft drinks go with anything.
In 1767, an English scientist discovered a method for infusing water with carbon dioxide to make carbonated water. This "new water" was initially mixed with herbs and drugs for medicinal purposes. However, it was not long before flavouring was added and the earliest reference to Ginger Beer, arguably the very first soft drink ever made, was in 1809. By the 1840s there were more than fifity soft drink manufacturers.
